Reviews On our training Program:

“Before training I had very little confidence in my technical skill. Through it I felt hopeful about my potential growth knowing that the people teaching me were talented and thorough, each had obstacles they overcame in their learning, so that gave me hope that I could also overcome mine. After I feel well rounded confident in my skill and taking control. I feel like I can take on any request my clients make without freaking out. I also feel supported knowing I can always ask anyone for help and they will gladly do that. (Collaboration was frowned upon at my previous salon.)”
-Cassie

“I felt eager to learn and experience a new way to cut and color. With a few years of experience beforehand it made training easier to perform the tasks we were assigned but I was still challenged by the new techniques I was learning. I liked being able to take clients in between doing classes and assisting to get familiar with the flow of working behind the chair. I also liked being encouraged to take photos of our work and be able to talk about what we did well and needed to be worked on with senior stylists. As far as the future I feel good about gaining new clients with the help of the front desk and as we’re transitioning into full stylists, being able to perform all services.”
-Savannah

“I had no idea what to expect coming out of school. I was terrified I’d be thrown out onto the floor and be expected to know everything. At AKADA, that is not the case. They prepare you for everything possible and focus on what you need help with and with me it was everything. The stylists take the time to explain every step of a haircut or color process and make sure you have it down before sending you off on your own. Without the AKADA training process I wouldn’t have been able to even talk to a client. Now I can confidently give a consult and give clients great results without second guessing myself.”
-Rachel

What it takes

First and foremost, we look for natural talent & a great eye, and an open attitude towards learning, in each of our stylists. You must be passionate about hair and grounded in your approach. We look for talented stylists who are responsive and dedicated to their clients, prioritizing the client needs over their own.

Each of our stylists must be committed to working as a team. When we’re on the floor, we’re serious about our business & expect each of our team members to be confident, yet approachable at all times. The right candidate will:

  • have an excellent work ethic

  • be committed to excellence

  • value being part of a team

  • be a lifelong learner

Training and Education

Our stylists are talented from the start, but we help them evolve into well-rounded professionals. We expect our team to be continually learning and sharing their strengths with each other. If you’re a renowned colorist or ah-may-zing with curly hair, we just might ask you to teach a class.

Along the way, you will learn skills such as communication techniques to enhance your referrals, business practices that maximize your income, and gain secondhand expertise from other stylists when they travel for professional training.

Our in-house training program provides a solid foundation on which to build a lifelong career. It encompasses classes on every aspect of hair dressing, including soft skills. Though the program lasts for about a year, we have reconstructed how we teach, and you can be on the floor doing hair & earning money in as little as 3-4 months. By the time you finish the training program, you can have a solid clientele. This is an exciting new advancement for everyone involved.

In addition to the in-house training, we have international educators come throughout the year, and always encourage traveling for immersive hands-on classes. Some of the educators we have the pleasure of working with include Vivienne Mackinder, Ruthe Roch, and Sassoon just to name a few.
