Preparing For Your Appointment

When you come to AKADA you are not just coming for a service, you are coming for an experience. We are here to help you prepare for your visit, the better we understand your desires & needs, the better results we can give you. There are a few things to keep in mind before coming to your appointment.

The first thing to keep in mind for your appointment is that we love inspiration photos. Photos are a great way to discuss all the things you like and dislike. Terminology can mean different things to different people, and color interpretation also differs. Therefore, copper to one person could mean orange to another. Pictures really are worth a thousand words. Whether you like just a part of a picture or the whole thing, it helps us have a better understanding what you are seeing. It is equally as important to remember, pictures are for inspiration alone, while we can most likely get you close to what you are looking for, we cannot always create an exact replicate of the photo, we are excellent at what we do but we are not magicians.  For color appointments, it is tremendously helpful to have a history of your color services, both performed in salon and at home. We do not need your past formulas; however, we do need an idea of the journey your hair has been on. Thinking about these things before you arrive will make for a smooth consultation, and leave more time that can be spent on the actual service.

On the day of your appointment please arrive with your hair how you normally wear it. Whether we are doing cut or color, it helps us to see where you are and what you are currently doing with your hair. Arriving with ponytails, wet hair, and/or hat hair make it difficult to accurately assess your hair. Additionally, please make sure your hair is free of tangles and not matted. If we must spend the allotted time freeing your hair of tangling, we will have to reschedule the original hair service. Something else to keep in mind for your experience is what clothes you will arrive in; bulky clothing is very difficult to work around. Wearing a shirt that fits against your skin and not up your neck is best. If this is not realistic, as you are coming from work and wear collared shirts, we have robes for you to change into if this is an issue.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when you are booking your service is timing. We strive to be respectful of everyone’s time as everyone's time is important. Therefore, being on time for your appointment helps us stay on time for our next guest. Being too late can sometimes mean you will have to reschedule your appointment. Please be prepared to spend the amount of time necessary for your allotted for your appointment, do not hesitate to ask the receptionist upon scheduling what time you will be done.

Lastly if you are not sure what you are looking for and need some direction before you book a service, please book a consultation; by doing a separate consultation we can figure out a good game plan and book your services accordingly.

Questions to consider for your consultation are as follows:

1.      How much time daily do you want to spend on your hair?

2.      What is your ideal maintenance schedule for haircuts and color?

3.      Do you need to be able to pull your hair back?

4.      Discuss cost for maintenance and upkeep with your stylist, so we can help evaluate what will work best for you.

5.      Keep in mind colors these days are quite complex. It may take several appointments to get you exactly where you want to be depending on where you are currently.

6.      If you have no idea what you want, we have you covered. With face first consulting we can look at your hair and face shape and design something specifically for you. Everyone has boundaries and we will need to take yours into account when designing your hair.

Examples, “What is too short?” “What is too long?” “What colors are out of the question?” and “What daily maintenance is acceptable?”

We are happy to take the reins and let you relax, and we are happy to collaborate. Thank you for taking the time to read through this and consider your needs ahead of time.
