Hair 911: When going to the salon is not an option
Well, we are in uncharted territory. Salons statewide are closed due to Covid-19 and that means overgrown bangs and way too many grays! While we’d never normally advocate a DIY approach, here are a few things you can do to get yourself through to your next appointment.
In this video, blogger Trinny uses one of our favorites, Color WOW root touch up powder. This easy to apply formula comes in eight shades with a double ended brush to efficiently cover large areas (the part line and crown) and smaller areas that require more detail (think hairline or bangs). The color has a lovely natural reflection to it (much like our beloved Davines color!). Not only does Trinny cover her grays, she also uses a lighter shade to touch up her highlights! You can find the Color WOW products here: https://www.colorwowhair.com/us/root-cover-up.
Now might be the time to pull out your scarf collection. Maybe you thought, Well, I’m not really a scarf person… . What better time to experiment? Here’s a video showing ten adorable ways to wear our favorite hair accessory. Chic pirate, anyone?
For a dose of moisture with some gray blending, try a color depositing conditioner. They provide temporary color and last about four shampoos. As always, we’re a big fan of the Alchemic line from Davines. They have several more natural shades to choose from, including golden and copper. Click the image below to purchase.
When all else fails, regular mascara or eyeshadow will do the trick as a quick cover. You probably already have some in your makeup bag, and a few swipes where your grays are poking out will last until your next shampoo. Consider changing up your part or wearing your bangs to the opposite side. You would be surprised how much this camouflages certain areas and adds volume.
